About this game:
Days Gone is an action game developed by Sony’s SIE Bend studio, the creators of the Syphon Filter series. The game takes you to a zombie-infested rural area in the Pacific Northwest, where you’ll fight for survival. You play as Deacon St. John, or Dick. Recently losing his wife, Sarah, Dick now lives a nomadic life as a motorcyclist Source4game. Along with another motorcyclist named Bowser, you’ll undertake various missions and struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic world.
What’s the game about:
The basic gameplay in Days Gone is easy to grasp. You’ll complete missions, ride your motorcycle to designated locations, and shoot zombies. Each mission you complete unlocks a new map and rewards you with money to buy better weapons and upgrade your motorcycle. You can also develop your skills, such as using firearms, fighting, and foraging. Between missions, you can explore the world, complete side quests, or raid bandit camps. You can also hunt animals for meat and hides, which you can trade with the locals.
But the story is much deeper than that. It’s not just about survival. Besides completing missions, there’s Deacon’s quest to uncover Sara’s fate, the different human factions, and the reason behind the zombie outbreak. There’s even a hint of a government conspiracy in the story. The game has multiple storylines to explore. Unfortunately, the hidden stories are the only interesting aspect of Days Gone. The rest of the characters—aside from Deacon—are bland.
The gameplay doesn’t offer much comfort either. It’s essentially a traditional third-person shooter, where every character seems to need something. The game includes plenty of gunfights with some obligatory stealth missions. While this isn’t a flaw, there’s nothing here that you can’t experience in other games. In fact, if you’re a fan of Far Cry 5, you’ll find everything very familiar.
Very boring:
Overall, Days Gone is a familiar action-adventure game. It presents the same story of humanity’s struggle to rebuild society, a common theme in zombie survival games. The game feels cluttered with numerous branching storylines, repetitive missions, and barely mentioned characters. It’s not bad, but it feels tedious. With some improvements and tweaks—to remove the unnecessary and boring elements—this game could become unique and engaging.
